the title of the piece is Hebrew for: “heaven within the mountain / thunder in heaven above.”
the piece is written after the images of hexagrams no. 26 and 34 of the I Ching.

26. Ta Ch’u / The Taming Power of the Great:

the image of THE TAMING POWER OF THE GREAT.
thus the superior man acquaints himself with many sayings of antiquity
and many deeds of the past,
in order to strengthen his character thereby.”

34. Ta Chuang / The Power of the Great:

“thunder in heaven above:
the image of THE POWER OF THE GREAT.
thus the superior man does not tread upon paths
that do not accord with established order.”
